Weather resistance enhancement of stainless steel color plate: long-term protection mechanism from sealing treatment to superhydrophobic surface

Summary:

Stainless steel color plates used in outdoor applications face corrosion from acid rain, salt spray, and ultraviolet radiation. This article proposes a synergistic protection system based on sealing agent modification, superhydrophobic coating, and electrochemical protection. Combined with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and neutral salt spray test (NSS), the weather resistance of colored boards is improved to 10000 hours without corrosion, which is 5 times longer than traditional processes.

Sealing treatment technology:

Water glass sealing: Using Na ₂ SiO ∝ (modulus 3.2) solution to seal the pores at 80 ℃ for 20 minutes, the pore filling rate is>90%, and the NSS time is increased from 800 hours to 2000 hours;

Organic silicon modified sealing agent: Add gamma glycidyl ether propyl trimethoxysilane (KH-560) to the sealing solution to form a Si-O-Si network structure, and extend the acid resistance (5% H ₂ SO ₄) time to 480 hours;

Laser assisted sealing: Micro nano structures are prepared on the surface of the oxide film using femtosecond laser (wavelength 800nm, pulse width 100fs). The penetration depth of the sealing agent is increased by three times, and the bonding strength is increased by 50%.

Construction of superhydrophobic surfaces:

Sol gel method: the superhydrophobic coating with contact angle>160 ° and rolling angle<5 ° was prepared using methyl trimethoxysilane (MTMS) as the precursor, and the water droplets bounced up to 5mm on the surface;

Electrodeposited Nanoneedle Array: ZnO nanoneedles (diameter 50nm, length 2 μ m) were electrodeposited on the surface of stainless steel, and after modification with fluorosilane, the stain resistance level reached level 5 (GB/T 9780);

Self cleaning performance: The superhydrophobic color plate has a surface dust coverage rate of<5% after 7 days in an environment with a PM2.5 concentration of 300 μ g/m 3, which is 90% lower than that of hydrophilic surfaces.

Electrochemical protection technology:

Magnesium alloy sacrificial anode: Weld magnesium alloy (AZ31) anode on the back of the color plate, and stabilize the protective potential at -0.85V (SCE) by controlling the anode area ratio (1:10), reducing the corrosion rate to 0.001mm/a;

Pulse current cathodic protection: Bipolar pulses (forward 10V/10ms, reverse -5V/5ms) are used to suppress pitting corrosion, and the polarization resistance Rp is increased from 10 Ω· cm 2 to 10 Ω· cm 2;

Intelligent monitoring system: integrating Ag/AgCl reference electrode and microcontroller, real-time monitoring of protective potential, automatically switching pulse parameters when deviation>50mV, reducing energy consumption by 40%.

Composite protection system:

Sealing superhydrophobic electrochemical sandwich structure: bottom layer sealing (water glass+KH-560)+middle layer superhydrophobic (ZnO nanoneedles)+surface electrochemical protection (magnesium alloy anode), NSS time>10000 hours;

Accelerated weathering test: In a composite corrosion environment with a SO ₂ concentration of 10ppm, humidity of 80%, and temperature of 60 ℃, the service life of composite protective color plates is extended by 8 times compared to single sealing treatment.

Engineering case:

Ocean platform railing: Stainless steel colored plates with a composite protection system have been used in the South China Sea for 3 years, with no rust on the surface and a 75% reduction in maintenance costs;

Photovoltaic bracket: The superhydrophobic colored panel reduces dust accumulation in Qinghai photovoltaic power station, improves power generation efficiency by 8%, and reduces the annual cleaning frequency from 12 times to 3 times.
